Course Handbook | A comprehensive First Aid Handbook will be issued to support the course |
Assessment | The course is continuously assessed by observation and feedback on practical elements of the course supported by short group assignments |
Certification | On a successful completion of the course REC Head Office will forward a Certificate that will be valid for three years |
Clothing | This is an active and practical course, so come prepared with waterproofs, warm clothing and appropriate footwear that may get wet and muddy in an outdoors setting |
Refreshments | Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided |
Lunch | Please bring lunches and a snack/meal for the evening of the first day |
REC (Rescue Emergency Care) 2 Day Advanced Course (16 Hours)
The REC Advanced First Aid Course (in Southampton Hampshire) is designed to introduce a systematic way of Advanced First Aid for managing casualties in an outdoor environment.
Topic learning and practicals intermixed with scenarios of real situations.
The course includes:-
Development of skills gained at emergency level
In depth review of Emergency Care topics - Shock Management - Longer Term Care
Advanced techniques - Skills Development - Use of Additional Equipment
Review of Special Interest topics by candidates
Content:-
First aid training with the REC scheme is easy and fun.
The course is progressive by building on each session, introducing new scenarios to test all techniques for:-
BLS: Basic Life Support • vital signs • blood pressure • AVPU
ALS: Advanced Life Support • suction • airways • oxygen • shock • fluid replacement
Injury: head • spine • chest • abdomen • pelvis • bones • soft tissue • eye
Rescue: triage • rescue • co-ordination • casualty management • cpr and use of AED
The Candidates:-
All candidates will either have emergency or standard (FAW) First Aid Certificate as a pre-requisite
Will be able to take control of an incident and direct standard First Aiders
Will be able to deal with more complex emergency situations and use advanced methods
