Normally these courses run on a ratio of 6 candidates to 1 RYA Powerboat Trainer however we have decided to reduce this number to 3 - 1.
This ratio of 3 - 1 gives participants more time to discuss and try out essential course elements whilst preparing for the end of course Moderation/Assessment.
So, some of these courses are running with only 3 candidates attending and some are running with up to 6 attending. With the groups of 6 we will be splitting the 6 into 2 groups of three, each group will have their own Classroom own Powerboat and own RYA Powerboat Trainer.
Two bookings and the course runs. Contact us if you are a single booking as we may have another single booking enquiry that would make the course viable to run.
At the bottom of this page ia a Book and Pay facility, when you use it you will receive a receipt and course booking confirmation, all by email - 24/7.

| Moderation/Assessment | During the course, a moderation/assessment will take place conducted by a RYA Powerboat Trainer. Potentially there are a number of outcomes, 1. Is a Pass this means that subject to RYA approval the candidate can then Instruct at a RYA Training Centre, 2. A RYA Action Plan is to be followed which is time specific, the candidate follows a course of further training to enable them to get to the level expected of a RYA Powerboat Instructor this could be from completing a Navigation theory course to assisting with delivery of a Powerboat Level 2 course probably at a RYA Training Centre familiar/not familiar to the candidate which is close to where they live - there should be no cost to assisting at another Centre, 3. Follow an Action Plan and return for a re assessment. 4. Complete the course again or take up another activity. |
| Certification | On a successful outcome of the course the RYA issues a Powerboat Instructors Certificate subject to the individual being a current RYA member. The RYA Powerboat Instructor Certificate is time specific, the RYA will inform successful Instructors with an accompanying information sheet regarding the validity of the Certificate and how to keep Instructors Certificate valid. |

Course information
The RYA Powerboat Instructor course at £339 in Southampton Hampshire by Tec Rec Coaching is a three day course that covers the aspects of becoming a RYA Powerboat Instructor.
A RYA Powerboat Instructor will be able to Instruct the RYA Power Boat Level 1 course, the RYA Power Boat Level 2 course and if they have the RYA Safety Boat Certificate this course as well.
Lets look at what we do on the course, all Powerboat Instructor courses concentrate on the Level 1 and 2 course delivery, for example there is quite a lot of subjects in the Power Boat Level 2 syllabus to get through especially if you teach it in two days, so we concentrate on how to deliver the classroom navigation and other subjects in a minimum of time with loads of 'Top Tips' We get on the water in our highly specced RIBs and work out the easiest ways of instructing.
During the third day of the RYA Powerboat Instructor course, candidates are joined by a RYA Moderator/Assessor for quality assurance and also adding a further dimension to the candidates learning.

Course Requirements

There are minimum requirements set by the RYA:-
1. One seasons full time powerboat driving experience
or 5 years part time powerboat driving experience
2. Have a RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate ( Inland or Coastal, both are now accepted although the RYA recommends that applicants for the Powerboat Instructor course have a minimum Navigation/Seamanship knowledge & skills ability up to the level of the RYA Essential Navigation and Seamanship On Line course)
3 Have a current First Aid Certificate that meets the RYA requirements for this course
4. Pass the RYA Powerboat Instructors Skills Assessment Course
5. Minimum age 16
6. Health declaration form or Medical Questionnaire
At the commencement of all RYA Instructor courses, candidates will be asked by the RYA to complete an Instructor application form that confirms they have read and understood the RYA Code of Conduct and Equality Policy.

Our team of RYA Powerboat Trainers have extensive experience of running RYA Powerboat Instructor courses.
We use our highly specced Powerboats for developing a method for the on the water skills training and use our classroom for the essential development of short instructional theory subjects that are required for delivery of the RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 programmes.

Tel Call or Zoom Meeting
When you have booked your RYA Powerboat Instructor course with Tec Rec Coaching we will arrange either a Tel Call or Zoom Meeting to go over with you the content of the Instructor course, ie the 3 day course programme, and how to prepare for the course. It is important that you arrive at the course ready to go and not playing catch up.
At our venue we have over 200 Powerboats on site, with a Powerboat Dealership as well there are new Powerboats arriving on a regular basis, these Powerboats have among other things, Shock Mitigation Seats, RADAR, the Latest Fly by Wire Engines, Twin Engines and the latest Data Transfer Electronic Navigation Chartplotters.
